Paradox Interactive has weighed the recent announcement of SteamOS and with a very positive attitude. CEO Fredrik Wester has called "a great thing for the PC game" and confirmed that the Publisher will fully support it going forward. Titles such as Crusader Kings 2 and Europa Universalis III, who already have Linux versions, it will run natively on the new operating system.
"We develop for SteamOS for a while as it is basically the same as the Linux version steam runs," Johan Andersson, Studio Manager of Paradox Development Studio (internal dev team Paradox), confirmed. "CK2 & EU4 should run on it natively runs on Linux as on Steam, and all of our future games will be as well. We think SteamOS is great for gamers, as it will give much better performance on the same hardware than Windows does. "
While the publishing side of the paradox did not commit to the same universal support at this point, Wester expressed that the roster of Paradox-published games that run on SteamOS will continue to grow.
"We are actively expanding the number of games published on SteamOS — and as said Johan, [Paradox Development Studio] fully supports SteamOS already," he said. "SteamOS is a great thing for gaming PC; competition means more choices, at the end, should promote the players. "
