
Author and inspiration for many of the world's largest military-themed games and spy gaming Tom Clancy died last night. His Publisher confirmed the news to the New York Times and CNN.
Clancy's first novel, the hunt for Red October (published in 1984), was turned into a film and video game in 1990. Our thoughts go out to Mr. Clancy's family and friends.
Update:Ubisoft, the Publisher of the game, bearing the name of Tom Clancy, made the following statement on his Facebook page.
We are saddened to learn from Tom Clancy's passing and condolences go out to the family. Tom Clancy was the author of a remarkable gift to create detailed, engrossing fictitious stories that captivated viewers around the world.
Teams in Ubisoft, especially at studio Red Storm, are incredibly grateful worked with and learned from it, and we are humbled by the opportunity to conduct part of his legacy by our properties that bear his name.
