A couple of weeks ago, Valve announced a new steam program that allow players to share their libraries with designated friends and family, a small step toward game lending practices that had been forgotten in the fog of PC gaming history. Now it's here: sharing family steam beta program has officially begun, library sharing grants for the first 1,000 participants.
The steam family sharing allows users to share their entire game library with up to 10 other account. Authorized users will be able to install and play any games on your account, but only one user can log on to an account at a time. If you want to return to your game, you will get a loan to buy their current game or retire until you're done. Check the FAQ or our coverage of announcement for all the details.
If you're in the top 1,000, you should already have an email waiting for you. If not, keep hanging steam group sharing family and hope for better luck in the next round. Everything should be fine, the family sharing program will be released to all users of Steam at the end.
Valve has had a very busy schedule this summer: July: cancel half-life 3 voices, started from a joke in a magazine; August: put the finishing touches on plans for world domination; September: just absolutely every news outlet on Earth.
